Great Start to 2026

After a dry Spring and early Summer, we are finally receiving some good rain throughout the Monaro and Snowy Mountains. All our small streams and rivers will benefit from the rain and good water temperatures.

The last two weeks have seen great Hopper fishing, there are lots of Terrestrials about, Cicadas, Beetles and Caddis on the rivers. The Lake edges are fishing well using Hi Viz PMX's, Hoppers and Beetles. Off shore wind is a help and a walk through the grass to get the Hoppers on the wing will get the fish in close. You have to be patient and watch the fly as the takes are easily missed !

The high mountain streams are fishing well with most fish now taking Dries, Wulffs, Humpys and Emergers. Snowflake Caddis in the evenings as well as Mayflies.
